Hello there. Welcome to the online home of Self-Care For The Carer (SCFTC). I started SCFTC out of a personal passion to help caregivers find empowerment through self-care practices that work and is tailored to their needs and to who they are as an individual.

My own self-care journey began when I left corporate to care for my son, Jack. For over a decade, I was stretched to my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual limit innumerable times.
It was from these trenches of life that I learned the art and science of true self-care and how invaluable and necessary it is, in order for me to show up in my best self for not just myself but also the people I love.
Whenever you're hanging out here online at SCFTC or with me in-person, I want you to know that you are cherished and you matter.
Whether you're just getting started on finding your self-care balance or you're further along, know that myself and the entire SCFTC community is here for you.

I believe that true empowerment begins when you honour your truth and start caring for yourself in a truly fulfilling way.

If you haven't already done so, give yourself a pat on the shoulder for being here. I applaud you for taking this step in exploring what true self-care means for you.

Testimonials
I am so grateful to Charmaine for her expertise during a difficult time
I’m not always able to articulate my thoughts clearly into words which can make it challenging at times to talk about things – especially when they are very personal.
The more intense the situation the more difficult it becomes and my thoughts and emotions become even more muddled and confused.
Having recently been through a very difficult time involving a close family member it was a relief to be able to speak with Charmaine. She was extremely perceptive and exceptionally skilled at being able to connect the dots (with what was said - and unsaid) and able to provide great insight and understanding to my situation.
With this new awareness and clarity, we discussed various ideas to help me move forward leaving me feeling positive and a lot more optimistic.
I am so grateful to Charmaine for her expertise in helping me get through such a difficult time.”

Charmaine helped me understand what true self-care for me is
As the owner of a young small agency, I juggle multiple hats in my business. I'm often the CEO and the head of Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Finance, Admin, Human Resources, and Operations all in one day almost seven days a week (six if I'm lucky). For a long time, I thought that spa baths, massages and scented candles aside, "true self-care" meant getting enough sleep, eating well, exercising, having fun and setting boundaries.
Charmaine helped me understand that while self-care may well be all that; more importantly for me, it is about having the courage to slow down, being intentional and mindful in my everyday moments and responses to stressful situations, and letting go the idea that my self-worth comes from my achievements and productivity. I also learned from Charmaine about how our self-care practices need to evolve dynamically with our life circumstances, goals and stages.

I'm really grateful to Charmaine for showing me how empowering true self-care feels. Thank you, Charmaine - for being a gem that you are, doing the marvellous work that you do. xx
